The General Settings
window allows the user to make changes in how D.R.T. processes certain information,
how it loads, and much more. To load the General Settings window select "Options->General
Settings".
Most of the settings
in the General Settings window are self explanatory. To learn about turbo
mode click here. Settings which are not self explanatory
are discussed below.
Copy/Paste
Settings allows you to determine how D.R.T. copies data to the clipboard
and how it parses pasted data. If you wish to copy-paste data between D.R.T.
and a spreadsheet program such as Excel, you may wish to enable "Include
column headers when copying..." so that Excel knows what the column headers
are.
The "Copy
entire row" feature will simply copy the entire row, which includes all
columns currently visible. So, if the visible columns are "Domain",
"Scan Status", "Alexa LP" than those are the columns for
which data will be copied. Alternately, if this option is disabled only domain
names will be copied.
The last option
in the Copy/Pasting Settings is the ability to filter data using user-specified
filter settings as it is pasted into the desired list. If this option is turned
on all pasted data will be filtered using specified filter settings.
The Advanced
scan settings section allows for configuration of how certain queries
are formatted. For example, in most situations a user will want to know the
Google Pagerank of www.domain.tld, however, in some situations it may be useful
not to have the www. prefix.
The "Use
Alexa XML Query" feature uses a faster approach to querying Alexa which
has a lower ban probability.
The
"Auto-Generate second level Overture domains..." option
automatically generates domains from "bad" Overture results. To
understand this, lets take a look at a sample "bad' result. Searching
"degeners.com" in Overture search term suggestion returns "79
ellen degeners.com" which D.R.T. treats as an invalid result and returns
0. However, when the "Auto-Generate second.." feature is turned
on D.R.T. generates "ellendegeners.com" from the previous "bad"
result and adds that to the scan queue. Now the result for ellendegeners.com
(as of 11/26/2005) is 156 (TLD). So, good domains can be found from bad results.
Keep in mind that bad results containing "link" in them are skipped
because "linksomedomain.com" always returns 0. Also, by default,
.COM is always appended to the term/bad result unless it already exists. Finally,
when these domains are added to the list they are brown in color.
The Offer
Related Settings section allows for configuration of how offers are processed.
By default, if an offer is submitted from the Scan list, the domain is automatically
added to the Watch list and assigned "Offer Sent" status. To disable
this uncheck the "Automatically add offer-sent domains to Watch list"
window.
The "Use
e-mail from E-mail field" option will use the e-mail address provided
in the E-mail address field of the Watch list, if one is available, instead
of querying the whois to extract the e-mail address. If no e-mail is available
in the Watch list D.R.T. Will attempt to extract an e-mail address from the
whois.
The Register
tab allows a user to register their copy of D.R.T. or change their license
number.
