Domain Research
Tool can execute scans at a certain time on certain dates. To do this, you'll
have to create a Windows Scheduled Task and pass the filename or list to download
as a parameter along with a "autorun" parameter Though it may sound
confusing, this is extremely simple and can be setup in about 5 minutes.
The purpose of scheduled scans is to scan various search engines when the
load is low (ex: night time).
A video is available
at the bottom of this help topic that demonstrates the scheduling feature.
Please read through this help topic before watching the video.
Important:
Domain Search Tool assumes previously saved settings (ex: proxy settings,
scan settings) when auto-loading and auto-scanning domains from a scheduled
task. That means that whatever settings you configured, whatever proxy lists
you have added, will be used during the automated scheduled scan. For example,
if you last scanned only for Overture domains using the UK overture, D.R.T.
scheduled task will only scan for Overture score in the UK overture.
D.R.T. requires
that you either pass a filename of the file you wish to scan or specify the
type of list to download (ex: expired, RGP, custom, etc).
The "autorun"
parameter passed along with one of the above list types tells D.R.T. to automatically
load (or download) the specified list and start scanning immediately. This
parameter is required.
To load a file
from the hard drive into the scan queue you'll have to pass the filename as
a parameter when launching D.R.T. For example, the below parameter will load
the file "C:\Programming\DRT\domain-lists\dropped-12-14-2005.txt"
and begin scanning it immediately.
Sample: "C:\Program
Files\Domain Search Tool\DRT.exe" C:\Program
Files\Domain Search Tool\domain-lists\dropped-12-14-2005.txt autorun
The above command
(if ran from Start Menu->Run or Windows Task Scheduler) will execute Domain
Research Tool given the program path (blue),
then load a file (dropped-12-24-2005.txt, outlined in red)
and finally the last parameter (gray) tells D.R.T.
To start scanning the list after load.
If you don't
want to load a file that's on your hard drive but rather need to download
a live domain file you may use the parameters below instead of the file path
(red). All domain lists provided by D.R.T. can
be downloaded automatically as well as a custom list. To specify a list to
download for a scheduled scan use the parameter list below:
| Downloadable

Sample using
live domain lists: "C:\Program Files\Domain Research
Tool\DRT.exe" download-expired autorun
The above command
(if ran from Start Menu->Run or Windows Task Scheduler) will execute Domain
Research Tool given the program path (blue),
then download and load domain list (daily dropped domains in this case, outlined
in red) and finally the last parameter (gray)
tells D.R.T. To start scanning the list after load.
